About Us

Established in 1607, “The Crack’d Egg” is the oldest and most unbiased newspaper in the world.

Our news coverage spans across America and that’s it. Other countries may be reported on at times if they affect us, otherwise they’re not important.

A Crack in the New World.

Although “The Crack’d Egg” became   official in 1607, our history goes back to October 12, 1492, when Christopher Columbus most certainly discovered America. He stepped off his ship onto the island of the Bahamas, carrying a carton of eggs he somehow had even though there weren’t any chickens with him. When walking up the beach, he tripped on a seashell and dropped the eggs. He stood up, grabbed the container and noticed one of the eggs had cracked. Devastated, as he had wanted to eat them for breakfast, he said to one of his crewmates, “The egg cracked.”

Democracy is Born.

Fast forward 115 years, founding the Jamestown Colony in Virginia, a group of European settlers made it their first rule of business to establish a reliable news source to accurately spread information with no, but maybe a little, bias. They debated in the townhall, rumoredly for 122 hours, about what their news source should be named. A member of the group was a descendant of the crewmate of Christopher Columbus who had heard Columbus’s first words upon landing in the New World, “The egg cracked.” His great-great-grandfather, the crewmate, thought it was necessary to pass the words down through generations to keep this story alive as it encapsulated the feeling of landing in America; they cracked open their shell to a new world.

“We shall call ourselves…”

The unnamed member stood up and firmly stated, “We shall call ourselves “The Crack’d Egg”!” At that moment, the rest of the group unanimously agreed before even hearing a “why,” as they knew the name simply felt right. They decided to remove the “e” from “cracked” and replace it with an apostrophe as one member stated, “It looks cooler.”

Over Four Centuries of Unbiased Reporting.

Following its establishment, “The Crack’d Egg” would thrive, spreading throughout America. It would give groundbreaking news to citizens at each hallmark of every century: the founding of the Thirteen Colonies, the American Revolution, the end of the Spanish Inquisition (as we finally got our rights), World War II, and the COVID-19 Pandemic, which we’re still not sure is real. We remain dedicated to each and every American, except the ones that disagree with us, for as long as the United States remains a country. We’re hoping that is until the end of this year.
